On March 27, 1997 which would have been my grandmother, Margaret Medeiros’ 92nd birthday (she died Jan 2, 1997) I was returning from a trip to Portugal and Spain with my mother. I was bumped off the flight in San Francisco but was really happy because I had visited with some friends. Around 7am I called my best friend Mary Pandolfino, who at that time was living in San Diego. She said she couldn’t talk to me because her daughter’s friend had just gotten raped.

Although I did not know the young girl, within minutes I started feeling her energy. All kinds of emotions and sensations from her went through my own body.... Later that day I called Mary and offered to do some long distance healings on the girl.

She lived in New York and I, at that time, was in Hawaii. I had been studying Healing Touch for a little over a year by then. We did some work long distance. She had been raped at gunpoint, so she often would have anxiety attacks.

We learned in class that cotton holds energy longer so I went out to buy her a 100% cotton teddy bear. I could NOT find one. I was amazed. I called all over to no avail.

So, it was at that time that I decided to have one made. Little did I know what a challenge that would be!

I have been actively working on this project since Feb. of 1999. I met the young girl in San Diego, during the trial of her attacker and called her upon the birth of the bear, not realizing she did not know I was working on the project. So, I sent her the FIRST chakra bear. That is why I feel the intention has gone full circle.

Now, we have only just started to see the ripples from this idea. The chakra bear will also help others. So, far part of the money will go for scholarships for women getting back into school and for a local women’s and children’s shelter. In negotiation, is possible funding for a project to get kids off the street and a rape center. One of our Healing Touch teachers is talking about taking the bears to an Orphanage in Romania.

On a more personal level, the profits will help support my healing touch practice. My dream since I was in my 20’s was to write children’s books that had an international theme and a peace theme. So, I feel blessed that my dream has birthed this project. I am grateful to God, the Universe, His Spirits and my Beloveds who have helped me during this process. I could not have done it without them. Not to mention all my Living friends advisors and my Sweetheart for their continued support. And Melissa Bischoff from Express Productions who has been the mediator coordinating all the details of the manufacturing.

There will be a series of Empowering Animals and coloring books for teaching other healing modalities.

I could go on forever, as there are many stories and learning experiences and it has only just begun.
